Simple protection. Impossible to beat. Bora-Care is the best way to protect your home from termites, carpenter ants, wood rot and more.
- Bora-Care is formulated with a concern for the environment. Active ingredient is a borate mineral salt - Its active ingredient has been scientifically demonstrated to work based on hundreds of university studies
- Used as a pretreatment in new construction for termites and wood-destroying insects, or to eliminate existing infestations in homes
- Prevention and remedial control of wood decay fungi and algae
- Bora-Care diffuses into wood and remains there for the life of the wood, providing residual protection
- Eliminates the need to pump hundreds of gallons of pesticides into the ground around and under your home
Bora-Care is proven effective to kill and prevent:
Drywood termites
Subterranean termites
Formosan termites
Carpenter ants
Powderpost beetles
Old house borers
PLUS: Bora-Care will kill and prevent algae and wood-decay fungi
New Construction
Bora-Care replaces old-style soil termiticides which are pumped into the ground under and around the house. Liquid termiticides can break down in just a few years (Mulrooney et al, 2006). Bora-Care eliminates treated wood as a food source for termites. And studies show that termites can’t tube over Bora-Care treated wood. (Amburgey,T.H. and William, L.H. 2001 Mississippi State University)
Existing Homes
Bora-Care is also ideal for eliminating existing infestations. We can treat all accessible wood wherever termite infestations exist wall voids can be injected with high pressure mist or foam. We can also treat crawl spaces or any other areas with infested wood.
Treat the Wood, Not the Soil
Bora-Care is applied directly onto wood surfaces. Bora-Care then penetrates the wood, protecting it throughout. Because the active ingredient in Bora-Care is a mineral salt, it doesn’t break down over time, so it remains in the wood for the life of the wood, providing long-term protection. By keeping the wood sealed or protected from moisture, as in the wall voids of a structure, you eliminate the need for retreatment. Soil treatments are not only more difficult to apply; they lose their effectiveness over time. Then a costly retreatment becomes necessary. Unlike soil treatments, Bora-Care is not pumped into the ground and poses no threat to lakes, rivers, aquifers or the environment. Bora-Care can even be used on lakeside homes where soil termiticides may be prohibited. Bora-Care’s active ingredient is a natural mineral salt called Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate (DOT) which contains the element boron. Boron is an element (chemical symbol B) on the periodic table that is already present in the environment – not only in the ecosystems outside of your home – but also in many of the products you use inside such as soaps and cosmetics. Boron is also found in many of the vegetables we eat.
